咳嗽是小儿疾病常见的一个症状，一年四季皆可发病，而冬春季节尤为多见。咳嗽的成因不一，种类亦多，外邪侵袭肺脏可引起咳嗽，其它肺腑有病累及于肺，也可发生咳嗽。因此在临诊时必须全面检查，仔细分析正确诊治。临床上一般将咳嗽分为外感咳嗽和内伤咳嗽两大类，小儿以外感咳嗽多见。
